Snow Lake Washington Adventure Elopement Guide
Washington state is safely one of my favorite places in the world. Stephanie & Joe initially booked a micro wedding in NH, but after a few months of planning something didn’t sit well with them. A true adventure elopement experience was all they ever wanted and dreamed of. They asked me if we could go to Washington and I immediately was ready to book that flight.
I’ve been photographing professionally in the Pacific Northwest for elopements for years. The north cascades feel like a second home to me with so many amazing memories I’ve built there. When I started showing Steph and Joe some of the incredible hikes in Washington I’ve been on they instantly landed on Snow Lake nearby Snoqualmie Pass. And honestly I cannot blame them.
It’s a moderate half day hike to one of the most stunning alpine lakes in Washington state which is more easily accessible than some of the lakes you need to backpack to. When I arrived at their AirBnb nearby the trailhead they were packing their backpacks for the adventure to come before we started the drive up the pass. I was absolutely buzzing with excitement and couldn’t wait to share one of my favorite places with a couple who trusted me to help them plan an elopement from thousands of miles away.
They were pleasantly surprised how easy hiking in Washington is with the switchbacks in comparison to the old logging paths of New England they were used to. They dressed in their elopement attire at the first overlook on Snow Lake for their first look prior to us venturing down the trail for their vows and portraits. The sun parted through the overcast close to sunset and it was 10pm before we arrived back. They were happy, exhausted, and ready for the takeout they had waiting in their fridge. Adventure elopements don’t always have extravagant meals, they are about time together doing what a couple loves first. I was beyond happy for these two in following their elopement dreams.
